Week 4
June 28 - July 4

Week 4 was similar to the other weeks, Scott and I are keeping in our routine.  We are still lifting 5 days a week, which is really helping.  We were hoping to get some valuable days of practice this week, since it was the Roosters week.  We had some pretty good turnouts on Monday and Wednesday, but nothing like on Thursday.  It was our best day of practice since we have been here and I think it showed during the game on Saturday.

One of the most exciting things that happened all week was that Scott's girlfriend, Megan, got here and she will be visiting for about twelve days.  Scott is glad she is here and so am I because it is good that we get to show someone the city for once, instead of everyone else showing us around. On Sunday night we gave her the royal tour of Turku in Thomas' car.  We still haven't made it down to the beach yet.  There have been some warmer days, but never two in a row.  So we always say that we are going to the beach tomorrow, but most of the time it is raining or freezing.

I don't know if I have mentioned yet that we practice inside.  It is one of those huge indoor soccer fields with field turf.  That means that we have those little black rubber things in our clothes when we get home.  However, I think that works to our advantage because we can have practice no matter the weather outside.

After the game on Saturday, we went out for a night on the town.  We were meeting up with some of the players on our team because they had some of the Roosters players with them.  Now in the States, I normally don't party with players on the opposing team, but here its a different story.  Since our team and the Roosters are the best teams in Finland, a lot of players on both teams make up the national team.  So I hung out with the Roosters QB.  He was really cool and is the best Finnish QB.  He's getting ready to turn 30, so he has a lot of experience playing in Europe and we talked about the different leagues around Europe and Finland.  I'm sure we'll see these guys in the championship and now I know some different players from around the league.

On Sunday, Thomas, Scott, Megan, and I went to see the movie "Around the World in 80 Days."  It was a pretty funny movie even though I don't really like Jackie Chan movies.  The Thomas took us to another Karaoke bar.  He ripped off about 4 songs including Sinatra.  I helped him with "Total Eclipse of the Heart."  As you can imagine it was a pretty awesome version of the song that could never be duplicated, just kidding.

This morning (Monday), my man Kari took me on a tour of a radio station here in Turku since I'm a Communication major.  It is quite similar to the radio stations in the States.  Their stations are geared toward a wider audience since there aren't too many people in Finland.  It was cool to see how they do things here.  Then we went to Kari's office and played around with Pro Tools.  I recorded an audio message that I made in his office and will post it on here soon.

This week, I'm heading up to Pori to spend a few days with Coach Haula fresh off his honeymoon.  We are going to play some golf, even though I don't have my clubs that my dad sent forever ago.  I'll be sure to give you an update on how bad I beat him and how the courses are.  Scott, Megan, and Thomas are going shopping all week.

By the way the website went over 1,000 hits in week 4.  Good job to you guys.  That is more than I expected to have the whole summer.  I will have pictures, I promise, at the end of the week.

Well, I'll be back with an update when I return from Pori... see you and take care!

P.S. Hello to my family and friends on vacation in Florida, I'll make you guys a tribute page soon, I wish I was there! have fun!
