Game 6 vs. New Jersey Xtreme
Well there was a bit of drama surrounding this game.  Anytime you have a franchise that is
0-5 and has got shutout of an indoor football; you are going to have trouble.  Well trouble
stuck in New Jersey.  The week before we played them, they fired all their coaches and
most of their players.  A local semi-pro outdoor team took over the reigns.  Also, some
former New Jersey Xtreme players came back to play.  They only had one practice before
coming to play our team.  Needless to say, it wasn't a pretty game.

The obvious flaw of the other team was their QB.  He had a lot of heart but the poor guy
was about 5'6" and threw it like it was a baseball.  Our team had 4 interceptions and most of
their receptions were under 10 yards.

I have to give big props to my fans.  I had a large group there from my old high school, Cov
Cath.  Thanks guys from representing, especially the ones that got painted up for the game.
I also had a group there from my mom's side of the family that was around 85.  Thanks for
supporting me, everyone.

The game, well, wasn't much of a game.  On offense it was pretty much the Rayshawn
Askew show.  He had 80 yards on 20 carries with 6 touchdowns.  I was 9-12 passing for
155 yards, a TD and an int in two and a half quarters of play.  I also had a rushing
touchdown.

Ernie Samuels got his first receiving touchdown on a 33-yard catch that sent him over the
boards.  Also, Tim Wilkins had 3 interceptions to push his season total to 7.

However, our player of the game was our teammate that showed the most heart and
courage on the field that night.  Ron Carpenter took the field just the day after his wife
tragically died.  Experiencing flu like symptoms she entered the hospital Thursday night only
to leave us on Friday morning.  For the game and the rest of the season we have her initials
sewn on our sleeves "SLC."  He played a great game and said that she would have wanted
him to play on Saturday.  He also said that football is therapeutic for him.

We all gathered at his house on Sunday to support Ron and his family.  Plus his family made
some of the best food I've ever had for all the visitors on Sunday.   Please keep Ron and his
family in your prayers.

Marshals win 65-13 and head to Dayton on Monday to take on the Warbirds in our second
of three meetings this season.

Also included below is a great article about the game written by one of our fans and also the
article in Tuesday's Enquirer about Ron Carpenter.
