| Game 2 vs. Jaguars | ||||||||||
| June 19, 2004 Today was our first home game and we were victorious 37-14. On the first play of the game I hit Jukka on an our route for about 60 yards or so down to inside the 10 yard line. Jukka is one of our best receivers and didn't play in the last game so this was our first game playing together. Then we ran two running plays with Thomas for a Touchdown. The first possession for the Jaguars was their best of the day. They took up almost all of the first quarter and drove down to inside the 10. Our defense made a 4th down stop to give us the ball back. The defense also had 2 big turnovers inside their own 15. So we only had 9 yards to go on one drive and 15 on the other. It was 24-0 real fast. They had an American running back who went to UNLV. So he was pretty fast and looked real athletic, he just didn't have anybody else around him to be that good. I had 2 passing TDs. One was an out route on about the 5 yardline to Juha. The other one was a playaction bomb to Jukka. Jukka caught another long pass from me on the last drive but didn't score. He was the MVP, I don't know how many receiving yards he had but I know it was over 100. Thomas had 3 TDs, one in which he carried 2 defenders in on his back. Scott played well. Our team switched up our defense and we play a 3-4 now. So Scott was playing the outside linebacker and right over the tight end the whole time. That is the position he played junior year in college, if anyone can remember. His best play that I saw was inside the 10 in the 4th quarter when they were about to score. They handed it off to the American running back and Scott tackled him 4 yards deep in the backfield pushing them back to the 8 yardline. The defense then held on 4th down. The lowlight of the day was that I threw an interception. Sorry Clint, the streak is over and I now have Europick #1. It was on a deep post... me and the receiver were off and he didn't look for the ball but his defender did and so it happened. But we won and now we are off this coming weekend because of midsummer festival. Then the following week is our big game when the Roosters come into town. I will have stats and links to pictures when they get it posted and a little more on the game. I'm being rushed because we are going to a BBQ. I hope all is doing well, I'll post week 2 soon. |
